How to Revoke GST Cancellation

The government might cancel your GST registration due to non-filing returns and tax evasion. You may apply to revoke the GST cancellation by paying late fees within 30 days of cancellation. For that, fill out the Form GST REG-21. The officer will revoke the cancellation, if your application is appropriate, via the Form GST REG-22. Once the cancellation is revoked, you may cancel the GST number properly or continue filing returns on time.

Final Words

You may consider the GST cancellation process if your business shuts down, falls below the registration threshold or shifts to exempt activities. However, complete the outstanding tax dues, ITC and re-registration fees. Maintain clear records and settle outstanding dues before cancellation. Similarly, consulting a tax professional is highly recommended to ensure a smooth cancellation and minimise drawbacks.
