7 Steps for Udyam/MSME Registration in India

MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) can quickly register their businesses with the Government of India via MSME Registration. The latest online procedure is here to reduce your burden. However, ensure that you have the required documents before registering your MSME.

Step 1: Visit the Portal

The registration process for your MSME is now online and should be completed via the Udyam registration portal. Remember that this process is paperless, fully online and requires self-declaration.

Step 2: Begin with the Registration

Select whether you want to register as a new MSME or an already existing one on the home page.

Step 3: Enter Aadhaar Details

Enter your Aadhaar number and name mentioned on it.

Step 4: Generate OTP and Validate

An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card. Enter the OTP and continue filling out your registration form. This step might go hand-in-hand with the PAN card validation.

Step 5: Enter Enterprise Details

Step 7: Registration Confirmation

You will receive a confirmation message or notification after a successful registration which means you will be assigned a unique 19-digit Udyam Registration Number.

Documents Required for MSME Registration

      1. Your Aadhaar card and PAN card. 
      2. Aadhaar card number of the authorised signatory of the LLP, Trust, Society or company.
      3. Aadhaar card number of the owner of the proprietorship firm, partnership firm or the breadwinner for a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF).
      4. GST number (only applicable to the firms where a GST registration is required).

Download Udyam Certificate

Following successful MSME Udyam Registration, you will be automatically granted a Udyam Certificate. Udyam certificate should be downloaded via the same portal. Log in using your Aadhaar number and download the certificate. The certificate will contain a QR code which will in turn contain details regarding your MSME.
